PINGORA
Set up your order alerts
Choose your device, activate your preferred alert method and test it before you wait. You can always follow the order status on the page.
Page sound and phone notifications are different. An open Safari tab cannot guarantee sound after screen lock. Optional notifications also depend on permission, connectivity and phone settings.
iPhone and iPad
Order status opens in Safari without an App Store download. Background web notifications need iOS/iPadOS 16.4 or later and a Home Screen web app.
- Scan the QR code for your current order and open the link in Safari. Check that the venue and order number are correct.
- For page sound, tap Enable alert sound and check the media volume. Keep the page visible and active; this does not guarantee sound after locking the screen or switching apps.
- For optional phone notifications, open Safari’s Share menu (or the page menu, then Share), choose Add to Home Screen and tap Add. If Open as Web App is shown, keep it enabled.
- Open the new icon from your Home Screen. Confirm that it opens this order, then tap Enable notifications and allow the request. Adding the icon alone does not enable notifications.
- Check iPhone Settings → Notifications → the web app: allow notifications and the alert locations you want, including Lock Screen. Check Sounds, Silent mode, Focus and Scheduled Summary where relevant.
- Ask the team to send a test alert after the screen has been locked for several minutes. Also test while another app is open. Do not rely only on a test sent immediately after locking.
- Your permission belongs to the web app, but this order still needs notification activation. An old Home Screen icon may open an old or expired order. Check the number each time.
- If the notification button is unavailable, the ticket has expired, or the device cannot receive alerts reliably, keep the status page active and agree on a spoken-number fallback with the team.
Android
Use an up-to-date browser with web-push support, such as Chrome. Viewing order status and enabling supported alerts do not require installing an app.
- Scan this order’s QR and open the link in your browser. If a social-media app opens it internally and notifications are unavailable, choose Open in Chrome or copy the link to Chrome.
- On the order page, tap Enable order notifications and allow the browser’s notification request. Wait for confirmation for this order.
- For page sound, also tap Enable alert sound and check media volume. Browser page audio still needs an active page.
- If permission is blocked, check Chrome → Settings → Site settings → Notifications, or the site’s page-info permissions. In Android Settings, also check that Chrome notifications are allowed and not silenced.
- Keep internet connected and test with the screen locked for several minutes, then while another app is open. Delivery and sound can vary with battery settings, connectivity and notification settings.
- Enable notifications for every new order, even if the browser already has notification permission. Permission alone does not bind a new order.
- Private/incognito browsing does not provide a reliable notification setup. Use a normal browser tab.
Other browsers and devices
Keep the current order page open to follow its status. If the browser offers notification activation, grant permission and test it. If it does not, use page sound while the page stays active and ask staff for a fallback.
- On a computer, check both the browser’s site permissions and the operating system’s notification and sound settings.
- Do not refresh repeatedly to try to keep a phone active in the background. A refresh is not a substitute for a supported notification method.
- A disconnected device may receive an update late or miss an alert. The page shows the current status again when the connection returns.
If an alert does not work
- The status changed but there was no sound: check media volume for page audio; check notification sound, Silent mode, Focus/Do Not Disturb and browser/app settings for phone alerts. A visible notification does not guarantee a sound.
- No notification permission prompt: permission may already be allowed or blocked. Check the current site/web-app settings, then return and activate alerts for this order.
- It only worked straight after locking: that short test may have used page audio before the browser was suspended. Repeat the test after several minutes using the supported notification setup.
- Wrong or expired order: scan the current QR again. Do not change or guess the order link, and do not share another customer’s private ticket.
- Still not working: keep the page active, tell the team your order number and use the agreed alternative. Contact hello@pingora.online for help without sending passwords or private ticket links.
Before your team starts service
- Create an isolated test order and scan its actual QR on each type of device you expect guests to use.
- Enable and confirm the chosen alert method. Lock for several minutes and switch apps before calling the order ready. Check status, visible notification and sound separately.
- Confirm that acknowledgement is not collection. Mark an order collected only when you actually hand it over or finish the service.
- Keep a spoken-number or staff-assisted alternative for guests without a suitable device or a reliable connection. Explain the iPhone Home Screen requirement before guests step away.
- Basic supports staff order management and guest pages. Plus adds customer-display software; use your own screen and browser.
- This guide describes the current web service. Apple Wallet and App Clip are not available features in this setup.
